She is Daddy's Girl

Recently Natalie's Grandma bought her a new onesie. We had to try it on with our super cool big girl jeans. What do you think?

Natalie enjoys an afternoon with a grocery store ad she snagged from a pile I left too close to her blanket.

What a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I have to say I am extremely thankful for all the wonderful things in my life. These past few days have been fantastic, with Friends, Family and Food!
Natalie wore her new Thanksgiving outfit and got a special Thanksgiving treat of peaches, bananas, and oatmeal. Yummy!
Here are a few Thanksgiving pics of our day. Dinner was at Chris and Melissa's house and we fed 13 people with a 24 lb. turkey. All the food turned out great.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving!

Well, the end of November is just around the corner. Seems like it took so long to get here and yet arrived way too soon. I will certainly be enjoying my day off eating yummy food and not cleaning my house because the guests are going to my brothers!
The photo is of me and Natty at the Zoo where we decorated the library tree. Natty loved seeing all the people and hearing all the noises and smelling all the smells. She is so alert and full of wonderment! This is in front of the big Zoo Christmas tree which is decorated with penguins. You can see one behind us on the tree. Such a cute pic! Speaking of pictures...
We took Christmas card photos of Natalie Jean this past weekend. So super cute! I want to send out the Christmas cards now! She is such the little model. She sat still for us for almost an hour in her Christmas dress. What a good baby!
I am debating on whether or not I want to do Black Friday shopping. On one hand there are some darn good deals out there. On the other...so I have the energy to get out of the house at 4 in the morning. I dare say probably not.
I can't believe Christmas is already at hand and I have none of my shopping done. Hope you all like gift cards!

Halloween!

I can't believe it is already November. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving though! Thought you all might like to see some pics from Halloween. We had a nice time at Chris and Melissa's annual costume party. Natalie was a sock monkey, I was Rosie the Riveter, and Kevin was Ned Flanders. Such a diverse group! I also spent a lot of time this weekend doing website stuff for the library. It's a pretty big learning curve for me. Our new site will be designed in the opensource software called drupal. It is a fantastic thing, but a bit confusing for us drupal muggles. Stay tuned for Thanksgiving pictures!

And cutest baby makes 3

The 1st picture was taken on October 3rd at North School Park where Natalie was crowned Princess of the Fall Harvest Festival. Her picture was chosen from over 30 babies as the cutest baby girl in Arlington Heights. She won a trophy and a $100 savings bond and some toys and bath stuff. She is wearing my favorite sweater that my friend Bronwen knit her for my baby shower.
The 2nd picture is from today. I wanted to get a picture of her with her trophy in the backyard. I think it is hilarious that the top of the trophy is a crawling baby. Who does she look like? Her Mommy or her Daddy?

So Happy!

I think this is currently my favorite picture of Natalie. She was so happy that morning. I don't usually go for the headband look, but I thought I would give it a try for the picture. I think she is going to be a pink lover. She is already a milk lover!

Bye week for the Bears

I always thought it was a "buy" week, not a "bye"week. Like you buy the game so you don't have to play. Whatever - sports terms are confusing. Natalie's Grandma Amling bought her this fantastic Bears cheerleading outfit which she so nicely posed in on our front porch last Sunday. She is really good about letting me dress her up and take pictures.

Natalie Enjoys a bath

We've taken to bathing Natalie in her little bathtub in our upstairs bathroom. It is murder on your back, but clean up is a lot easier and she likes the spray shower head. She is just getting to the age where she will like having toys to play with in the tub. Squeaky clean cute!

Gosh - so much has happened

Wow - After the stair rail got put in, I just stopped. Well- I also went back to work full time, so I am thinking that accounts for some of my lack of updates.
Kevin and I celebrated our 7 year wedding anniversary in September on the 21st. Hard to believe that much time has gone by. Natalie will be 5 months old this Monday, which I am also having trouble believing. We have taken at least 1000 photos of her thus far, plus about an hour of video. I will try to post more photos to update everyone.
I am still trying to juggle working at the library with working from home and taking care of Natty. The housework has definitely suffered. I need a maid.I will write a little more as I post the pictures. I will try to update again soon. Here is a picture of Natalie doing what we all do best. Nap! Notice she is in my bed.

Jen's Birthday Chocolate

I asked for a French Silk Pie for my birthday dessert. There used to be a Baker's Square right by our house, but now you have to drive a bit. I am wearing an oh so attractive blue t-shirt because the dress I wore to dinner was a little too tight for my post baby bod. Maybe next year...
As for turning 32, I am still coming to terms with it. So much has happened in our lives in the last year, it seems almost impossible I could be this old. When all the things your parents said to you while growing up start floating back to the front of your mind, and now they all make sense, you know you're getting older. Still, I would not trade Natty for anything in the world. She lights up my heart when I lean over her crib and she gives me a big toothless smile. I love watching her discover new things, and learn new sounds. I will strive to be the best mom I can be and I hope she will always know she is loved.

1st post on my new blog.
A big thank you to Chris and Melissa for setting my this new blog when my one from Yahoo was disintegrated. I am super happy my posts and pictures were saved from certain doom.
Lots has happened since my last blog post - like Natalie was born!
I will try to post some more pictures and thoughts here, and update more frequently!
Here is a picture of Natalie at my birthday party last month. Look how cute she looks with her floppy hat : )

August 8, 2008 - New Fireplace!

Yay! For my birthday Kevin got me a new fireplace! The one you see here was originally wood burning, but it was in disrepair and needed a new liner to be safe. So- we converted it to a gas burning fireplace instead. Turn a key and you get fire! I am excited : )Christmas will be cozy...

Sorry it has been awhile - August 1st is a new leaf!

All right - I know it has been a few months since I posted anything. Life keeps getting in the way. The last entry is from May when I posted the library's parade float. Since then.......Gosh...........I turned 31 - god I am old now. This summer has truly made me feel like I have left all the carefree days of childhood behind.Kevin and I had our porch, driveway, sidewalk and part of our garage floor torn out and re-poured. If any of you heard our skunk story- that was part of why. If you haven't heard the skunk story - you should ask me about it sometime. It is almost to the point of being mildly amusing....almost.Next up we are having the columns replaced. I know, I know, I hear you all muttering to yourselves about how I must be off my rocker to get rid of those fine grecian fluted columns, but progress must be made and they will soon be replaced with a stone and wood arts and crafts type combo. The next week we are having our family room fireplace converted to a gas fireplace, maybe we will use it more if we don't have to chop wood : )I feel like I never got to see everyone over the summer - so if you are reading this and you live within 25 miles - let's get together!I will try to post photos of my new driveway/porch etc soon.Hugs!

We won 1st place!

The float that I built with our Teen Advisory Board won 1st place in its division in the Lombard Lilac Parade. Yay us!!

Kevin's Birthday

OMG - Kevin is 30!

Yep - those balloons are all frosting

It Got Worse

The Lamb Cake took a turn for the worse on the way down to Chicago Heights.

Don't Ask Me To Make You A Lamb Cake

So - Kevin had never had a lamb cake for Easter so I said I would make him one. He wanted chocolate, which is a little odd for a lamb cake, but I said ok. In this photo it looks kind of like a demented dog, maybe one of those ones from the 1st Ghostbuster movie. It was not a successful triumph in cake making.

Entry for April 24, 2008

Ok - So it has been awhile since I last updated. A LONG while. It has been 2008 for almost 4 months now and I haven't put up anything new. Sorry.
The picture is of the paint job we had done the day before Christmas Eve. We had all the shiny wallpaper removed, all the side walls painted an off white color and the top wall was painted the same red as the dining room. We are currently getting quotes to tear out our front porch (ask me about the resident skunk we had) and to repour our driveway with concrete (it is blacktop now) Yikes! We are also hoping to redo our kitchen sometime in the near future...oh and get the fireplaces fixed and knock down that wall, and paint the other bedrooms upstairs............
