Taking a Break in Italy

We are taking a break from fixing the house and visiting Italy.

Everything here is very bellisima!

We tried to load some photos onto the computer here to send, but this station seems to be Internet only. But we have taken about a kajillion pics, so there will be lots to share when we return. We have been to Rome, Florence, Venice, Assissi, Pompeii, Pisa, Naples, and now Palermo, Sicily. All of the places have been cool in their own way. Our favorite so far has been Assissi. It looks like the set of a movie. The view from the balcony of our hotel room there was amazing. The city was built on a mountainside, and it looks basically the same as it did hundreds of years ago. We enjoyed drinks on the balcony with a cool evening breeze, looking down at the lights of the farming community in the valleys below us. It was surreal!

Pompeii was ridiculously hot (about 100 degrees), but fascinating. Venice is an absolutely beautiful city as well. St. Marks Square at night is gorgeous. The restaurants in the square have live quartets that take turns performing on little stages for their patrons. We are enjoying the cappucino and especially the gellato--we have eaten a LOT! Today we saw several important cathedrals (and took an important nap after a long night on a cruise ferry). Tomorrow our tour bus departs for Agrigento.

I will update with pics as soon as I can find an internet station that will take my usb cord. Or when I return home. Ciao!
